University of Indianapolis Pitcher Kenzee Smith has been named the 2021 Schutt Sports/NFCA Division II National Freshman of the Year. Smith posted a 23-3 mark in the circle with a 1.21 ERA and 173 strikeouts over 167.1 innings of work for the Greyhounds. UIndy finished the 2021 season 46-8 and advance to the NCAA DII Midwest Regional Finals.
