Incarnate Word has filled out their coaching staff hiring assistants Hunter Bunch and Travis Owen. Bunch joins the Cardinals as hitting coach after working on the club ball level most recently as the hitting analytics coach for the Texas Bombers Organization. Owen will serve as UIW’s pitching coach and his most recent stop was as head coach at DII Minnesota-Crookston.
McMenemy Gets First Head Coaching Shot At Tiffin
Paige McMenemy has been named head coach at Tiffin. The appointment to the DII school is her first head coaching assignment after serving on the coaching staff at Toledo since 2019. While with the Rockets, McMenemy helped guide the team to its first Mid-American Conference Tournament title in program history and an appearance in the NCAA Postseason. She takes over at TU after longtime coach Jeff Nickerson resigned after leading the program for 14 seasons.
WCWS Expands To Nine-Day Event
The NCAA Division I Competition Oversight Committee earlier today approved expanding the Women’s College World Series to a nine-day event, beginning with the 2022 championship. The format change will eliminate the doubleheader for teams that lose on Day 1 of the event, and it will also add a day of rest for the two teams that advance to the championship final. This event expansion changes the dates of the WCWS from June 2-7/8 to June 2-9/10 in 2022.
Maloof Hired To Lead Stonehill
Stonehill College has named Ali Maloof their new head coach. Maloof spent the last six seasons on staffs at Wellesley College and her alma mater Southern New Hampshire University. At SNHU, she enjoyed a decorated playing career being named three-time NE10 Pitcher of the Year, NE10 Player of the Year, and an All-American. Maloof takes the reins of the Skyhawks program after the passing of former head coach Ken LeGrice in the spring, following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Illinois State’s Armitage To Lead Minnesota State-Moorhead
Minnesota State-Moorhead has named Mike Armitage its new head coach. Armitage has been on the coaching staff at Illinois State since 2018. He assisted the Redbirds to the 2021 Missouri Valley Conference Championship.
Longtime Rollins Coach Frew Calls It A Career
Rollins College has announced that longtime head coach Michelle Frew is retiring effective immediately. Frew amassed 1,009 wins as a head coach during her 29 year career, which included stops at Florida Southwestern College and Lely High School along with her time at RC. She tallied 878 of those victories at Rollins making her the all-time winningest coach at the institute.
Fordham Adds Lapicki To Coaching Staff
Fordham has named Jen Lapicki associate head coach. Lapicki joins the Rams after serving as head coach at Holy Cross for the past five years. During that time she compiled a 49-127 record leading the Crusaders.
Post Names Meyer Head Coach
Post University has announced the hiring of Julie Meyer as its new head coach. Meyer joins the Eagles for her first head coaching assignment after spending the last seven seasons as the assistant and eventual associate head coach at Hofstra. She had also made stops on coaching staffs at Memphis and Ole Miss in her career.
Zaleski Departs A&M-Corpus Christi For Oklahoma
Sources have confirmed to RTS that Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Head Coach Kristen Zaleski will step down from her position to join the coaching staff at Oklahoma as volunteer assistant. Zaleski was named head coach of the Islanders in June of 2019 and led the program to a 24-46 overall record in two seasons. She previously had spent nine highly successful seasons as head coach at Temple College.
Dixie State Names Garoutte To Coaching Staff
Dixie State has named Michael Garoutte assistant coach. The veteran to the coaching ranks joins the Trailblazers after spending the last four seasons as head coach at Big Bend Community College in Washington. While at BBCC Garoutte posted a 77-53 record.
