Cal State-Bakersfield will not renew the contract of head coach Crissy Buck-Ziegler. Buck-Ziegler led the Roadrunners for 11 seasons. She compiled a record of 122-325-1, while winning one WAC Tournament Championship and making an NCAA Postseason appearance in 2016.
Northern Colorado’s Garcia Retires
Ben Carcia is retiring as head coach at Northern Colorado. He led the Bears for four seasons compiling a 59-111 record. Garcia spent four seasons with Colorado Mesa before coming to UNC, having a very successful run winning three RMAC championships and making three NCAA Postseason appearances.
Hall Of Fame Coach Evans Out At A&M
Hall of Fame Coach Jo Evans is out at Texas A&M. Director of Athletics Ross Bjork announced Monday that the longtime Aggie Coach’s contract would not be renewed. Evans coached A&M for 26 seasons compiling a 987-503-2 record. She collected her 1300th career coaching win at the Norman Regional last weekend. Evans coached the Aggies to the NCAA postseason 22 times. The Aggies had trips to the Women’s College World Series three times (2007, 2008, 2017) and made seven trips to the NCAA Super Regionals.
Carolina U Names Johnson Head Coach
Jay Johnson has been named the new head coach at Carolina University. Johnson returns to collegiate coaching after working on the high school level the last several years. He also has collegiate experience at Montreat, Grace, and Elon.
Bennett Exits UNCP
Brittany Bennett has resigned as head coach at UNC Pembroke. Her nine season run ends being the program’s all-time winningest coach with 216 victories. Assistant Stephanie Graziani will serve as interim head coach while a national search is conducted.
Jones Out At Morehead
Morehead State is looking for new leadership. Samantha Jones has resigned after four seasons as head coach at MSU. She compiled a 28-118 record leading the Eagles.
DI All-Region Award Announced
The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) has announced their 2022 Division I All-Region Awards. 381 student-athletes from 152 programs have received recognition for their performances this season. SAGU Wins NCCAA National Title
Southwestern Assemblies of God University won the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) National Championship after defeating Columbia International University 7-4. It’s the first National Title for SAGU. The Lions’ Rosie Guadarrama was named the Tournament Most Outstanding Player.
RTS Headed To Blacksburg Regional
RTS will be in Blacksburg, VA beginning tomorrow through the weekend for the start of the NCAA Division I Postseason. No. 3 ranked and overall national seed Virginia Tech will welcome No. 15 Kentucky, Miami (OH), and St. Francis for the Regional Round. Coverage will start Thursday at each teams’ pre-regional practices and press conferences. Game 1 of the regional will be Friday as Virginia Tech takes on St. Francis at 2 pm. USA Softball has announced the Top 3 Finalists for the 2022 Collegiate Player of the Year Award. The CPOTY award recognizes outstanding athletic achievement by Division I female softball players across the country.
