Newman University has parted ways with Andrea Gustafson as head coach. Gustafson coached the Jets for six seasons compiling a 94-227 overall record. The program went 7-43 this season.
UT Martin Slapped With Penalties
The University of Tennessee Martin has been put on one years’ probation and fined $25,000 by the NCAA for level II violations within the program. The violations stem from midyear scholarship increases that were required by the coaching staff to be returned along with reimbursing teammates for donations. Additional recruiting violations also occurred under former head coach Brian Dunn, who has also been given a two-year show-cause penalty during which any future institutional employer must restrict him from athletically related activities. Current head coach Chelsea Farmer who served as an assistant coach at the time, was given a one-year show-cause penalty. She also was given a five-game suspension which was served in February. The program also received a two-week ban on all recruiting activities.
Ross To NJCAA Hall Of Fame
Kansas City Kansas Community College Head Coach Lana Ross will be inducted into the National Junior College Athletic Association Hall of Fame. Ross has coached for 22 years with previous stops at Iowa Western Community College and Fort Scott Community College. She has compiled 799 wins currently while appearing in the NJCAA World Series four times.
Nicholson To NJCAA Hall Of Fame
Akron Head Coach Craig Nicholson will be inducted into the National Junior College Athletic Association Hall of Fame. The veteran coach served 11 seasons as head coach at Central Arizona College where he won four NJCAA National Championships (1997, 1999, 2003, 2005), seven conference championships, and eight regional titles. He compiled a record of 723-90 coaching the Vaqueras.
Ellazar Resigns At Menlo
Menlo College Head Coach Skylynne Ellazar has resigned. She spent the past three seasons leading the Oaks through their transition from NAIA to NCAA DII. Ellazar compiled a record of 35-99.
Sauceman To NJCAA Hall Of Fame
Former Walters State Head Coach Larry Sauceman will be inducted into the National Junior College Athletic Association Hall of Fame. Sauceman coached the Lady Senators to a 1085-382 record over 27 seasons, while making five appearances in the NJCAA World Series. Sauceman retired after the 2024 season.
WBSC Women’s World Cup Coming To OKC
The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) has announced that Oklahoma City will be one of the hosts for the 2026 WBSC Women’s World Cup Group Stage Events. The “Softball Mecca” at Devon Park will host the games along with the cities of Lima, Peru and Prague, Czechia. The event will be made up of total of 18 teams that are divided into three groups of six squads each at hosting sites. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the Finals to be played 2027.
Talley Resigns At Midwestern State
Brittanie Talley has resigned as head coach at Midwestern State. Talley spent the past four seasons leading the Mustangs. During that time she compiled a 55-145 record while going 41-87 in Lone Star Conference play.
Wallace Named Coach At CCC
Greg Wallace has been named the new head coach at Coahoma Community College. The Mississippi State grad has spent the past five years as a Coach with the Fastpitch Performance Academy. Wallace has over 22 years of experience in athletics and education. He takes over a program that was winless in the 2025 season.
Gillispie Will Not Return To Iowa
Iowa has announced that Renee Gillispie will not return as head coach. Gillespie coached the Hawkeyes for six seasons from 2019-2024. She did not coach this season due to a personal health matter. Gillispie finished her stint in Iowa City with a 136-141 record.
