Washington University in St. Louis has announced Casey Cromwell as their new head coach. Cromwell joins the Bears after leading the program at crosstown Fontbonne University. In 2022 the Griffins won the SLIAC title and made the program’s first appearance in the NCAA Postseason since 2015.
Gasso To Earn $1.625 Million A Season
The highest paid softball coach in the country just lapped the competition.
Oklahoma has given head coach Patty Gasso a contract extension through 2028 and a raise that will earn her $1.625 million a year. Her base salary from OU will be $300,000, while $825,000 will come from private funds, $200,000 from annual retention bonuses, and a further $300,000 in a supplemental retirement fund. She will also receive a $150,000 bonus for every National Championship she adds to an already impressive collection of six.
Limestone Coach Yates Retires
Limestone University has announced that head coach Amy Yates is retiring. Yates led the Saints for 10 seasons after serving as an assistant coach in her first two years with the program. The two-time Conference Carolinas Coach of the Year compiled a 274-172 record leading the program. LU made appearances in the NCAA Postseason in 2015 and 2017.
Walker Joins Coaching Staff At Lyon
Lyon College has announced the hiring of Rick Walker as assistant coach. Walker comes to the State of Arkansas after serving as head coach at Miami University-Hamilton from 2016-2022. Last season MUH finished seventh at the USCAA World Series.
Former UTA Coach Brun Joins Kennesaw Staff
Former UT Arlington Head Coach Peejay Brun is joining the coaching staff at Kennesaw State. Brun compiled a 117-129 record over five seasons with the Mavericks before resigning in June. The veteran coach will assist an Owl squad that went 23-28 in 2022.
Singleton Promoted At Texas
Texas has announced the promotion of Steve Singleton to associate head coach. Singleton has been on the Longhorns Coaching Staff the past three seasons. Serving as UT’s hitting coach, he was instrumental in the squad’s success setting new single-season team records for runs (397), hits (560), doubles (116), total bases (906), walks (224) and RBIs (355) in 2022. Texas reached the WCWS Final finishing National Runner-up last season.
Billie To Lead Benedict Program
Benedict College has named Brianna Billie their new head coach. The Tiger Alum spent the last three seasons as an assistant coach at Northwest Missouri State. Billie takes over a program that finished the 2022 season 29-19.
Kalman Departs MIT For Gettysburg
Gettysburg College has named Brooke Kalman their new head coach. Kalman spent the past four seasons leading the program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She guided MIT to a 32-18 record and an NCAA Regional Final appearance in 2022.
All-American Gibson Joins Georgia Staff
Georgia has announced that All-American Danielle Gibson has joined their coaching staff. She will serve in the volunteer assistant position for the Bulldogs. Gibson competed at Arkansas where she was selected as an All-American in 2021 and 2022. She was also a finalist for USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year and the Honda Sport Award as a senior. Gibson had also been competing on the professional level during this past summer.
Berry Names Strong Head Coach
Berry College has named Jessica Strong their new head coach. Strong joins the Vikings after four successful seasons at Seton Hill College. While leading the Griffins she compiled a 110-54 record. In 2022 she guided her squad to an at-large NCAA berth ending at the DII World Series where SHC finished fifth nationally. Strong takes over a nationally ranked DIII program at Berry that finished 36-13 last season.
