UAB Adds Woodard to Staff

UAB has announced the addition of Scott Woodard to their coaching staff. A veteran coach, Woodard has over 30 years of coaching experience with stints at Auburn, Arizona State and Western New Mexico. He was inducted into the WNMU Hall of Fame in 2017.

Premier Girls Fastpitch and Perfect Game USA Announce Partnership

As RTS reported last week, Premier Girl Fastpitch (PGF) and Perfect Game USA (PGUSA) have settled on entering into a strategic partnership/merger to form the new brand of PG Softball both formally announced today. Insiders say the move comes to expand the former PGF brand more regionally across the country while adding logistical and financial support to the newly merged brand moving forward.

Asbury Turns to Curry to Lead Program

Asbury University has named Megan Curry their new head coach. Curry comes to the Eagles after serving on the coaching staff at Mercer working with slap hitters, outfielders, and baserunning. She has also served as an assistant at her alma mater Samford.

Lye Steps Down at Bucknell

Bucknell has announced that head coach Joey Lye has resigned. She went 63-61-1 in three seasons leading the Bison. Lye plans to pursue her opportunity with the Canadian Olympic Team full-time.

Kerr Takes Reigns at Southwest Baptist

Southwest Baptist University will name Oklahoma Panhandle State’s Chad Kerr their new head coach RTS has learned. Kerr spent one pandemic shortened season at OPSU posting a 10-16 record. The veteran coach has also had stops at Lincoln, Alderson Broaddus, and Central Christian.

Drumm Named USA Softball Southern California Commissioner

USA Softball has announced the appointment of Christina Drumm as Comissioner for Southern California. Drumm an established umpire that has called at the WCWS, was also selected to the staff of officials for the 2020 (now set for 2021) Olympic Games in Tokyo. Sources also speculate this appointment could be a catalyst and bridge in bringing some of the top Club Teams in SoCal back into the USA Softball fold after previously competing under the Premier Girls Fastpitch (PGF) banner.
