Rounding Third Softball

Kimball Cassady is out as head coach at Samford. Cassady led the Bulldogs for three seasons compiling an 84-82 record. SU has indicated a national search for their next coach will begin immediately.

Bowling Green State has announced it will not renew the contract of head coach Candace Fenton-Bockbrader. In two seasons leading the Falcons, Fenton-Bockbrader compiled a record of 15-79 while going 5-51 in MAC play.

Justin Lewis has resigned as head coach at Nicholls State after three seasons to accept an assistant position at Kansas. During that time he compiled a record of 72-88 while going 33-33 in Southland Conference play leading the Colonels. Assistant coach Ron Frost has been named interim head coach.

New Mexico Highlands University has named Marc Benjamin their new head coach. Benjamin spent the past four seasons at Oklahoma Panhandle State where he turned the fortunes of the program. In 2022 he led OPSU to an overall record of 35-14 and a 22-8 mark in conference play. He was recognized as the Sooner Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2021. Benjamin has also had coaching stops at Barton Community College, Northwest Kansas Tech, Campbell, and Southern Utah.

Softball America has released their 2024 Division I All-American First and Second Teams and All-American Freshman Team.

Radford has decided not to renew the contract of head coach Alisa Tasler. Just completing her third year leading the Highlanders, Tasler had a record of 59-96 while going 24-42 in Big South Conference play.

After 27 years as head coach at Walters State Community College, Larry Sauceman is calling it a career. Sauceman coached the Lady Senators to a 1,085-382 record during his tenure. He coached 14 All-Americans and led the program to five NJCAA World Series appearances.

Lauren Conway has been named the new head coach at William Peace University. Conway, a program alum, has been on staff as an assistant coach the last two seasons. She takes over for longtime Coach Charlie Dobbins who retired after leading the program for 25 years.

Kate Wheeler has stepped down as head coach at Brown. Wheeler led the Bears for six seasons compiling a 61-112 record while going 31-53 in Ivy League play.

After 25 seasons leading Babson College, Dave Canan has announced his retirement. Canan tallied an overall record of 605-385-1 leading the Beavers. He guided the program to four NEWMAC Championships, six NCAA Regional appearances, and one Super Regional.
