David Martinez has been named the new head coach at the University of Texas Permian Basin. Martinez worked with the program at the end of the 2025 season as interim head coach. He also spent 2024-25 as head coach at Compass Academy Charter School in Odessa, Texas. Before coming to West Texas he spent seven years on staff at Henderson State as an assistant then head coach. He also has had stops on coaching staffs at Southern Miss and Delta State.
